Important Notes & Warnings
Building a sauna incorrectly can lead to serious long-term issues including wood warping, rot, heat loss, electrical hazards, and trapped moisture that causes mold behind walls. Improper vapour sealing or material selection can also cause off-gassing and safety risks when the sauna reaches high temperatures.
The sauna experience also changes dramatically when the room isn't designed and built correctly. Proper air circulation, bench height, and vapour sealing are essential to achieve balanced heat and authentic löyly — the smooth, even steam created when water hits the hot stones. Poor design can result in uneven temperatures, harsh or dry heat, slow warm-up times, and wasted energy.
Henki's carpenters follow industry-recognized best practices for heat containment, moisture management, and ventilation. Every build uses heat-rated materials and proven construction methods to ensure safety, durability, and performance. Our experience ensures your sauna operates safely and delivers a consistent, enjoyable environment for years to come.
